Mangum-Futrell

Jennifer Ashley Mangum and Glenn “Ray” Futrell of Kinston were united in marriage at 4 p.m. May 11, 2013, at Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Pink Hill. The Rev. Lynn Maxwell officiated the ceremony.

Escorted and given in marriage by her grandmother, Mrs. Dee Heffren, the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mangum of Greenville. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Heffren, also of Greenville.

The bride is a graduate of Greene Central High School. She attended Pitt Community College.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hollis “Glenn” Futrell of Kinston. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Howard Sr. and Johnny Gray, all of Pink Hill, and Doris Futrell and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Pate, all of Kinston.

A graduate of South Lenoir High School, he attended Lenoir Community College and Cape Fear College. He is a jailer at the Lenoir County Courthouse.

Following a wedding trip to Topsail Beach, the couple resides in Kinston.

The bride’s cousin, Lauren Fryer of Fayetteville, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Vanessa Futrell and Danielle Futrell, the groom’s sisters, and Mattison Futrell, the groom’s cousin, all of Kinston.

The couple’s daughter, Brylee Futrell of Kinston, was flower girl.

The groom’s father served as his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Gavin Futrell and Quentin Deaver, the groom’s cousins, and Josh Harris, all of Kinston.

The wedding was directed by Darlene Davis.

Music was provided by Jameson King, sound system operator. Lighting candles were Keely Gates and Jameson King.

Keely Gates also served as register and program attendant.

 

Reception/parties

Following the ceremony, a reception was given by family and friends in the Pleasant Hill Christian Church fellowship hall. Greeting guests were Donald and Darrell King. Reception servers were Paula Smith, Shirley Howard, Emmie King, Cindy King, Angie Sholar, Michelle Howard and Kara Howard.

On April 14, a bridal shower was given by family and friends at the Pleasant Hill Christian Church fellowship hall.

May 4-5, a bachelorette weekend was given by the groom’s sisters at Surf City Beach. A bachelor fishing and camping outing, given by the groom’s cousins, was held on the river.

On May 10, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by family and friends at the Pleasant Hill Christian Church fellowship hall.
