Brooke Hayley Hill and Robert Alcey Rouse both of Kinston were united in marriage at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at Pilgrim Home FWB Church in Dover. The Rev. James Sowers was the officiating minister.
Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride is the daughter of Earl and Donna Hill of Kinston. She is the granddaughter of Ernest and Ella Langston of Kinston, the late Harvey and Edna Mewborn who lived in Kinston, and the late Earl Hill Sr., who lived in Rocky Mount. She is a graduate of Lenoir Community College.
The groom is the son of Bessie Rena Wilkins Rouse of Kenbridge, Va., and Robert Ben Rouse of Pink Hill, and special aunt and uncle who raised him, Rose and Franky Wilkins. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Wilkins Sr., who lived in Kinston, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Clever Rouse, who lived in Albertson. He is a graduate of South Lenoir High School.
The bride’s sheer matte mesh gown featured an Empire waist, feminine lace cap sleeves, with eye catching open back detailing. The side draped mesh skirt added dimension and created a long soft silhouette. Her veil with lace edging and bouquet of blue and white hydrangeas completed the ensemble.
Stephanie Mills, sister of the bride of Kinston, was maid of honor. The bride’s sister, Ashley Hill of Kinston, was the bridesmaid.
The bride’s niece, Katelyn Mills was the flower girl.
The groom’s brother, James Rouse served as best man.
Groomsmen included Joseph Morris, the grooms’ step-father of Kenbridge, Va.; Jason Hill, brother of the bride of Kinston; and Tony Batchelor of Sharpsburg, Va.
Wedding music was provided by pianist Janis Tucker. Vocalists were Janis Tucker and Judy Burkett.
The wedding was directed by Judy Burkett.
Ryan Mills, the bride’s nephew was the register and program attendant. Additional attendants included, Jennifer Burkett and Judy Burkett.
Managing the PA system was Theresa Sowers.
Following the ceremony a reception given by the ladies auxiliary was held in the Pilgrim Home FWB Church fellowship hall. Serving cake made by Theresa Sowers were Inez Coombs and Sharon Axelberg.
