Candice Nicole Rouse of Beulaville and Cody Zane Jarman of Pink Hill were united in marriage at 6 p.m. June 15, 2013, at The River Lodge at River Landing in Wallace. The Rev. Steve Grissom of Albertson Missionary Baptist Church was the officiating minister.
Escorted by her mother and given in marriage by her parents, the bride is the daughter of Betty and David Padgett of Beulaville, and Russell Rouse of Seven Springs. She is the granddaughter of the late Beulah and Richard Taylor, who lived in Albertson, and Weldon Rouse of Albertson and the late Joyce Rouse.
A graduate of ECU, the bride received a Bachelor of Science degree and a teacher’s license in elementary K-6. She is a teacher at Moss Hill Elementary School.
The groom is the son of Allen and Angie Jarman of Pink Hill. He is the grandson of Ruby and Cecil Jarman of Pink Hill, and Durwood Mincey, also of Pink Hill, and the late Ann Mincey.
A graduate of Lenoir Community College with an associate’s degree in applied science in automotive systems technology, he is an auto-body technician with Doug Henry of Goldsboro.
Following a wedding trip to Charleston, S.C., the couple resides in Pink Hill.
The bride wore a one-shoulder fit and flair gown designed by Tadashi Shoji. The pleated bodice was adjoined with tattered swatches giving the dress a vintage, bohemian look.
A custom designed lace headband consisting of ostrich feathers, pearls, intricate fabric and a detachable bird cage veil completed the ensemble. She carried a bouquet of blush pink and white roses and peonies, with clusters of baby’s breath wrapped in burlap and lace.
Ashley Jones of Kenansville was matron of honor.
Candice Strickland of Chinquapin was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Kristen Hunsberger and Lindsey Harris, both of Raleigh; Melissa Myers of Charlotte; and the bride’s sister-in-law, Heather Rouse of Bunn.
Cadence Brown of Richlands was flower girl.
The groom’s son, Ashton Jarman of Pink Hill, served as best man.
Groomsmen were the groom’s father; the groom’s brothers, Logan Jarman of Raleigh and Austin Jarman of Pink Hill; and the groom’s cousin, Josh Jarman, also of Pink Hill.
Reception/parties
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The River Lodge at River Landing.
On Feb. 9, a wine and cheese gift card shower was hosted by the bridesmaids at the home of Lindsey Harris in Raleigh.
On March 23, a wedding shower was hosted by family of the bride and groom at Albertson Missionary Baptist Church.
On May 4, an 80s Prom bachelor/bachelorette party was hosted by Ashley Jones and Candice Strickland at The Country Squire in Kenansville.
On May 5, a Kentucky Derby Tea Party bridal luncheon was hosted by the bride’s aunts, Katherine Grant and Dorothy Turner, at the Grant home in Kinston.
On June 14, a rehearsal dinner was given by the groom’s parents at the Mad Boar Restaurant in Wallace.
