Maples – Kornegay

Amy Jo Maples of Beulaville and Samuel James Kornegay of Kinston were united in marriage at 6 p.m. May 4, 2013, at Mike’s Farm in Beulaville. The Rev. Charles Russell was the officiating minister.

Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride is the daughter of Raymond and Shelby Maples of Beulaville. She is the granddaughter of Helen Maples of Knoxville, Tenn., and the late James Maples, and the late William and Viola Basden, who lived in Beulaville.

A graduate of ECU with a master of physician assistant studies, she is a physician assistant with ApolloMD at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.

The groom is the son of Gary and Janice Kornegay of Kinston. He is the grandson of Elizabeth Jackson of Kinston and the late Sam Kornegay Jr., and the late Leo and Frances Andrews, who lived in Kinston.

He received an associate’s degree in emergency medical science and is a telecommunicator with Lenoir County.

Following a wedding trip to Charleston, S.C., the couple resides in Kinston.

The bride wore a strapless Allure ball gown created from layers of soft ivory organza. The ruched, fitted bodice featured a sweetheart neckline, with an asymmetrical Swarovski crystal and pearl brooch accent, and alternating Swarovski crystal buttons with organza covered buttons. The dress included a chapel-length train highlighted by soft organza layers.

Her double-tier fingertip-length veil featured a crystal and pearl edging. She carried a round bouquet made from stems of antique blue and green hydrangeas, wrapped with white ribbons and highlighted with pearls.

The bride’s sister, Susan Jacobs of Jacksonville, was matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Theresa Fraune of Cornelius; and Bailey Tilghman of Kinston, the groom’s niece.

Marie Taylor of Kinston was flower girl.

The groom’s father served as his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Trent Kilpatrick of Kinston, cousin of the groom; and Paul Whittington, also of Kinston.

The groom’s nephew, Cooper Tilghman of Kinston, was ring bearer.

Following the ceremony, the bride and groom’s parents hosted a reception at Mike’s Farm.
