Ashley Nicole Manning of Kinston and Joseph Franklin Andrews of Trenton were united in marriage at 5 p.m. April 27, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Wallace. The Rev. Richard Thomas Vernon of Kinston performed the ceremony.

Escorted by her father and step-father, the bride is the daughter of Leslie Smith Jones of Kinston, Dexter Wayne Manning of Newport and Marty Leon Jones of Kinston. She is the granddaughter of Robert Wayne Manning of Atlantic Beach, Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas Bryant of Kinston, the late Mr. and Mrs. Quincy Adams Smith Jr. and the late Dean Shirley Manning, all of whom lived Kinston.

A graduate of North Lenoir High School and N.C. State University, she is employed by the Lenoir County Department of Social Services as a foster care and adoption social worker.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Franklin Andrews of Trenton. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Junious Rathie Stroud, also of Trenton, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Floyd Andrews, who lived in Trenton.

A graduate of Jones Senior High School and UNC Wilmington, he is employed by ProAg as a crop insurance adjuster.

Following a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple resides in Trenton.

The bride wore a wedding gown originally worn by her aunt more than 40 years ago. The gown made of candlelight Cluny lace over taffeta, featured an empire waist and a portrait neckline. The A-line gown was enhanced by adding scalloped beaded ivory trim and a modified keyhole back customized for the bride. She is the fifth person in her family to wed in this heirloom gown.

She wore her aunt’s original veil of candlelight illusion that was bordered in lace to match the gown. The floor-length veil had been refashioned and accented with matching scalloped beaded trim along the lace border.

She carried a prayer book that her maternal grandmother carried on her wedding day in 1944. It was held in a lace pocket handmade by her mother. The bride also wore a layered pearl necklace that belonged to her paternal grandmother. She carried a bouquet of cream colored roses and hydrangea.

Ashley Andrews Heath of Kinston, sister of the groom, was matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Stacie Hill Davenport of Dover; Ashley Winborne Deaver of Grifton; Virginia Pollock Moody of Kinston; Laura Helen Murray of Hillsborough; Traci Anne Pearce of Winston Salem; and Kelly McCarn Pearson of Beulaville.

Flower girls were Tyler Kate Adams of Beulaville; Jenna Ann Deaver of Grifton; and the groom’s niece, Mallory Grace Heath of Kinston.

The groom’s father served as his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Jason Stroud Andrews, brother of the groom; Elvin James Lee III and George David Norris, all of Trenton; Matthew Reid Davenport of Dover; Christopher Lloyd Foscue and Ashley Cameron Mills, both of Kinston.

Ushers were Patrick O’Neal Heath of Kinston, Douglas Wade Lee of Trenton and Kenneth Robert Scott II of Greenville.

Page boys were the bride’s cousins, Kyle Fisher Kelley, Adam Thomas Minyard and Jackson Herman Minyard II, all of Kinston.

Jane Harper Vernon of Kinston served as musician and vocalist. Wedding directors were Lois Sykes Hall and LuAnn MacMillan Rivenbark, both of Wallace. Register and program attendants were Erika Brooke Jones, Katie Keith Mills and Lindsay King Weaver, all of Kinston.

 

Reception/parties

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at River Landing Country Club in Wallace, hosted by the bride’s mother.

In July, an engagement party was held at Quaker Neck County Club in Trenton, hosted by the bridal party and Chase and Gina Mackey.

In November, a country cocktail party was hosted by Jan and Lisa King and family at the King home in Kinston. Also in November, a Christmas bridal shower was hosted by Ashley Deaver and Wanda White at the Deaver home in Grifton.

In February, a bridal shower was given by the women of Southwood Memorial Christian Church at the church in Kinston.

In March, a bridal shower was given by Bea Harriett and Terry Chadwick at Cypress Creek United Methodist Church in Trenton.

On April 6, a surprise “Last Fling before the Ring” cookout was given by Angela Ives, Heather Sutton and Patti Jones at the Ives home.

On April 7, dinner and a wedding shower for the couple was held at Cypress Creek United Methodist Church, hosted by David and Bonnie Andrews.

On April 26, a bridesmaids’ luncheon was given at The Country Squire in Kenansville by Billie Stroud, Gloria Hill, Vicki Jones, Kristi Jones, Bonnie Foy and Theresa Sowers, aunts of the bride and groom; Ashley Heath; and Leslie Jones.

Also on the eve of the wedding, the parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at The Duplin Winery in Rose Hill.

On April 27, a wedding day lunch was provided for the bridal party by Diana Tyndall, Elaine Holloman and Doranne Whitehead, aunts of the bride.
