Whitman-Murphy

Brandi Renee Whitman of La Grange and Matthew Dustin “Dusty” Murphy of Kinston, were united in marriage at 6 p.m., July 27, 2013, at White Oak Grove OWFB Church in La Grange. The Rev. Jesse Futrell was the officiating minister.

Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride is the daughter of Susan Whitman and Randy Whitman of Kinston. She is the granddaughter of Zodie and Durwood Whitman of La Grange; Jimmy and Mary Smith of Goldsboro; and John and Peggy Turbeville of Norwood.

The bride received a bachelor’s degree in special education and elementary education from UNCW; she is a teacher at Contentnea-Savannah Elementary School.

The groom is the son of Ellen Quinn Murphy and Lewis Murphy of Pink Hill. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. C.R. Quinn who lived in Comfort and the late Mr. and Mrs. Grainger Murphy who lived in Pink Hill.

A graduate of ECU with a bachelor’s degree in construction management with a minor in business, he is a general contractor with Korpro Inc.

Following a wedding trip to Charleston, S.C., the couple resides in La Grange.

Tieranny Cutler of Wilmington was maid of honor.

The groom’s father served as his son’s best man.
